I was very excited to see this film directed by Gilles Lellouch and starring Adele exarchopoulos and Francois Civil. It has all the ingredients to make a French blockbuster but they miss it. The first part goes on too long to set the stage for their young lives and love.
Because I think, although long, it was a good one
After a while we wonder if we entered the wrong projection room. Besides, after an hour we begin to feel disappointed that Adele and Francois are nowhere to be seen. If this first loooong part was meant to be, the film should have been in 2 releases.
It was very easy until the end
The second part of their adult life is in many ways unreliable and not exciting enough. I found the adaptation of the script rather weak. And I felt no connection to this reunion romance.
It’s a shame as I feel we missed out on a great movie here
Well done to Mallory Vanek as Jackie and Malik Fricka as the young Cloutaire who gives a great performance.
